We are calling all Moose Legion members! At that time of year, we get together and celebrate what it means to be a Moose Legion member. We will hold our once-a-year Winter Celebration for the Bull Run Moose Legion #@185 on Saturday, February 4th, 2023. The Official Visitor from the state is Tom Keefer. Below is the list of items on the agenda for this coming Saturday:
As always, we invite all members not in the Moose Legion to inquire about becoming a Moose Legion and Women of the Moose members. This is the reason it is called the next level of membership. Click here for a flyer for your refrigerator.
To the Moose Legion Secretary, Directors and Members of Bull Run Moose Legion #185,
On behalf of the Moose Legion Council, Our Director Bob Neff, and President John Prough, we want to thank each jurisdiction for their donation to the Endowment Fund. Your contributions through the month of August 2020 total $1133.00, which is $1.92 per Moose Legionnaire.
Please remember endowment funds should be sent monthly, but a minimum of once per quarter. In addition, jurisdictions exceeding $3.00 per-capita by April 30th receive 30 bonus points toward the Moose Legion Award of Excellence. This is how most jurisdictions will achieve the upper levels of award.
Total dollars collected for the Endowment Fund by the "President Division" amounts to $2,896.61. The Grand total from all six divisions amounts to $15,458.45. The Endowment Fund Competition "Top 10" standings for the 2020-2021 Moose fiscal year in the category of "President" consisting of Moose Legions with 426 thru 600 Moose Legionnaires is as follows:

Our Moose Legion Committee is a part of the larger Bull Run #185 Moose Legion. We have 13 lodges in the Bull Run #185. The Vienna Moose Legion Committee meets the 4th Saturday of each month at 6:00 pm. Any changes to our Moose Legion meeting will be posted at the lodge and on our many social media sites.
For those that don't know, here are the eligibility requirements for becoming a Moose Legionnaire – the second degree of service. Any lodge member with six months of membership or have sponsored at least one new member is eligible to be invited.
As every day brings a chance to start over and make things right, our Moose Legion Committee is getting its mojo back and moving forward again. We had a great meeting on Saturday, July 28, 2019. I want to personally thank Bunky Clark for helping in this effort. We had a good turnout for this meeting. We are seriously trying to rebuild our committee and find ways to make our lodge even better. We are currently looking for members to hold positions within our committee. These positions include the MLC Chairman, Assistant Secretary, and Sargent at Arms. To find out more about a Moose Legion Committee please read this handbook. At our next meeting, we will have a strong agenda to help continue the steps we made at this last meeting. We invite all Moose Legion members to attend!
In closing this message, remember the motto of the Moose Legion! "Do some good thing… For someone each day!"
Oftentimes when visiting and meeting Lodge members or attending a Moose Legion Celebration in another Lodge or jurisdiction, I am frequently asked by members, “Why should I join the Moose Legion?” or “What benefit is there in Moose Legion membership?” My response is normally “Why would you not want to join?” Just think of the many benefits that await you if you elevate to the Degree of Service.
Moose Legionnaires are members of a higher degree with the purpose of assisting our Lodges by supporting fraternal programs and having fun in the process. Moose Legion membership gives you an opportunity to participate in the many activities and events of the Lodge and to also provide you with the ability to do even more for your Lodge.
Not only is your Lodge membership critical to the success of our fraternity, but you also enjoy the family bonds unique to the Moose. Our members typically look out for one another while our Lodges provide a safe environment for your family and friends which the Moose Legion is noted for.
It is also Moose Legionnaires that are in the forefront when it comes to supporting the many aspects of Moose Charities. Typically, these committees lead the way during our monthly committee meetings and often are first to support the Cradle or Rocker fund appeals. Our current President’s project is to provide a projector for the Mooseheart campus while also providing commercial washers and dryers for our residents of Moosehaven. Again, another case of Moose Legionnaires are leading by example.
Additionally, elevating to the Moose Legion gives you an advantage for advancement that others lack. Moose Legion membership is the first step for advancement to the higher degrees of our Order, specifically the Fellowship and Pilgrim degrees.
There are, of course, more tangible benefits to becoming a Moose Legionnaire but foremost is the fulfillment of our sacred pledge “To do some go thing for someone each day.” If you are currently a Moose Legionnaire, thank you for your membership and remaining current. We ask you to offer your fellow Lodge members an opportunity to join our cause and invite them to become a Proud Moose Legionnaire. Eligible new members can be found. You probably already know some. Just ask; “Are you a Moose Legionnaire?”
If you love the Moose Legion as much as I do, please continue to renew, recruit and retain our members. Moose Legionnaires are Moose on a Mission and we do indeed support all aspects of the Moose fraternity. It is an honor to continue to serve beside all of you.
